It was almost inevitable that Dress Me Slowly would land equidistant from the introverted, esoteric Hourly, Daily and the Who-styled jam of Hi Fi Way. You Am I have reached that stage where they need to consolidate rather than search for new directions, and this record does this perfectly.

The addition of second guitarist David Lane has allowed the band to find this middle ground without sounding tired or old - his fresh influence the perfect complement to Tim Rodger's patented brilliance. Standout track is the horn augmented "Doug Sahm", a gritty soul-rock classic.
