Before Noah’s Ark Farm Zoo, the area was a dairy farm where Anthony and Christina Bush operated a dairy farm and raised their family for over 35 years. Now it is one of the top tourist attractions in the South West with over 170,000 visitors a year and membership associations with the Somerset Tourism Association, Destination and Visit England. Converted into a Zoo in 1998, the enclosure was mainly occupied by farm animals, rabbits, and a small number of exotic animals like llamas. But when the world’s longest hedge (‘the Monster Maze’) was planted in 2003, there was no turning back, and so there were rhinos, giraffes and Tapirs entering the zoo.
Just as the biblical Noah sought to preserve nature in his boat, Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm. In 2017 they made a commitment to renewable energy, built on a project to begin investing in clean energy in 2007. With in-house wind turbines, biomass boilers and solar panels on the roofs to contribute to as clean energy as possible.
